Wishlist/Bucketlist: When you start planning you adventure, make a list of all the things you love to do and places you want to travel to. Then organize your list from most favorite to least favorite, and there you have it – a starting point of which locations and things you’d like to visit and/or do first.

Price/Budget: Research airfare, lodging, transportation, activities/excursions, food and currency exchange rates – in order to calculate all of your expenses prior to arriving to your destination. Knowing how much money you will need to have on your trip is essential, especially because so many people tend you run into ATM and/or Debit card issues, due to banks putting holds on accounts (for security purposes) to ensure that it was indeed the card holder who was attempting to make a purchase out of state or overseas. It’s very important to always put a travel notice on your bank account online or through your mobile app, and/or just call your bank to let them know when and where you are traveling to avoid issues as such.

Seasonality/Timing: Check the weather, holidays and if the location you are wanting to travel to is in its “in” season – meaning, when visitors are traveling to this location most frequently. Usually the “in” season for locations tend to have more expensive pricing.

Safety First: Check state department or country department website for safety/travel warnings on foreign destinations.

Spontaneity: If you prefer to pick a location being spontaneous, I suggest putting locations of interest in a hat or bowl, etc. and then select a destination. This option may be expensive depending on the locations of interest you selected.

Language: Check countries first language and invest in a foreign language dictionary and/or app for the location you plan to visit.
