YES, the miracle pill we have all been craving to get rid of the belly! If you worry because you have always been told that the only ways to get the bod you want is to eat less and exercise more then I want to squash that myth right now. 

New research shows that it is not effective to exercise for an hour each day and then sit down for the rest of the day. The amount of stress we put on our bodies everyday will counter act most of those efforts, plus thinking that we can eat what we want now because we trained for an hour is also wrong.

National Institutes of Health mathematician and obesity researcher Kevin Hall commented “You work hard on that machine for an hour, and that work can be erased with five minutes of eating afterward” [1]. A single slice of pizza, for example, could undo the calories burned in an hour’s workout. So could a cafe mocha or glass of coke (nasty stuff).

 Exercise sprinkles

Moving in all different directions throughout the day to boost your metabolism. Short burst of lovely exercise sprinkles is more effective than an hour of training and then sitting the rest of the day. Here are some ideas:

  • KB swings around the house or office – just 10 each time you pass the KB.
  • 40 squats each time you go to the loo
  • Walking lunges around the office from meeting to meeting.
  • Standing up every time you speak on the phone.

Varied Positions

Adopt some different positions throughout the day, not just moving forward or sitting. Try lunging, kneeling, balancing on one leg, hopping, side lunge, getting off your chair using one leg.

So if you’re having a late dinner and it finishes around 10-11pm, don’t eat again until 10-11am then next day, simples!
