The Golden State Warriors Are the 2018 NBA Champions
This is the most obvious takeaway from Game 4 after the Warriors beat the Cavaliers to complete a sweep and win their third championship in four years. I was hoping Cleveland would actually put up a fight, but the Warriors took off right from the start and gave the Cavs no chance to extend the series. Even though the Warriors didn’t have the best record in the league this season, they were always the best team. With Curry, Durant, Thompson, and Green playing the Warriors style of basketball, this team is almost unstoppable. The Warriors played their style of basketball when it counted most, and now they’re the NBA Champions once again.
LeBron James Is Leaving the Cavs
Ever since coming back from being down 3-1 to win a championship against the Warriors, the Cavaliers have declined. The only constant has been LeBron James and his incredible play. This season especially was tough for LeBron, and I don’t think he can take it anymore. This is pretty much the reason why LeBron left Cleveland in the first place. He wants to win championships, but he can’t win them on his own. Nobody can. Before LeBron went to Miami, he was never given the help he needed. That’s the current situation for LeBron in Cleveland right now, which is why I think he’s leaving. LeBron has to go to a team where he has players capable of taking some of the load both offensively and defensively. If LeBron’s going to win another championship, it’s not going to be in Cleveland unless they can actually give LeBron the help he needs.
The Cavs Will Be Horrible Without LeBron
Since I think LeBron will be gone, I also think the Cavs will be horrible without him. Who’s going to be the best player on this Cavs team without LeBron James? Kevin Love. So what kind of team are we looking at here? Remember the Kevin Love led Timberwolves? Probably something like that. A player or two might put up big numbers, but only because nobody else can. Their numbers won’t be good enough to help the team actually win. This team wouldn’t have made the playoffs without LeBron. This team will be bad just like they were when Kyrie Irving led the team. Sorry Cavs.
Someone Needs to Hurry Up and Figure Out How to Beat the Warriors
How many championships are the Warriors going to win? If they retain all four all-stars for the next several years, we’re probably looking at the next group of players to make it to the NBA Finals eight straight times. At one point during the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors were down 3-2 against the Rockets. The playoffs were interesting for a moment there, but then it died when the Warriors once again returned to the Finals. If someone doesn’t figure this out soon, we’re going to be watching the same thing over and over and over again.
Free Agency is Going to be Exciting
This isn’t technically from Game 4, but I thought I’d throw it in here since it happened so close to the game. As soon as the Warriors won the game, the recruitment of LeBron James started. All the speculation has begun. Will he go to the 76ers? Rockets? Maybe even the Warriors? It will be fun trying to figure out where he’s going and even more fun to see the reaction of every NBA fan when he makes his decision. LeBron is only the beginning. We’ve got Paul George, who we know is being recruited by Donovan Mitchell. At the same time, there have been a lot of rumors about Paul George going to play for the Lakers with LeBron, along with rumors of Chris Paul doing the same thing. The NBA Finals may have been boring, but the offseason is going to be fun.
