Summer’s most anticipated super sale for gamers drops today. Here’s your ultimate guide to limitless freebies and discounts. Steam Summer Sale 2017 is one of the most anticipated times of the year for gamers who fancy collecting new and old game titles that cost up to 90 percent less compared to regular days. The said super sale starts today, June 22 at 1 PM for North America, 6 PM for the UK and 7 PM for the rest of Europe.
PayPal breaks the news
The news broke out ahead of Valve’s official announcement when Paypal UK tweeted their Steam Summer Sale 2017 promotion poster. Valve first opted not to comment on the news but later on, one of their representatives confirmed that the sale is happening today.
PayPal has been Valve’s key partner for accepting payments on their PC gaming megastore.
In connection with this, PayPal UK’s promo encourages Brits to do their payment via this platform where they will get an additional £5 cut on their total purchase when they reach £20 of spending. The said promo ends on July 5 which is indicative that Steam Summer Sale 2017 ends by then, Extreme Tech reported.
Other PayPal branches and payment platforms are expected to drop similar discount promos to attract more customers.
How Steam Summer Sale 2017 works for starters
Steam Summer Sale 2017 is the second part of Valve’s 2-part annual sale. The first part happens during winter by the first quarter of each year.
At this point, Valve has not yet revealed what in store for customers and which game titles will complete the bulk of sale. However, it is quite easier to predict how much will be cut from their original prices during regular days. For example, popular game titles are most certainly cutting down 5 percent to 10 percent to their prices.
Meanwhile, recent hits are less likely to offer discounts since they still generate sales even without cutting down their price tags. However, newer titles of lesser popularity can be sold up to 90 percent less.
Less stressful mechanics
In 2016, Valve has come up with a less stressful mechanics for Steam Summer Sale by ditching daily deals and flash sales. They have decided to put all game deals on the same putting all throughout the duration of the sale. This tactic may be laxer but it has proven to generate more sales. Shoppers expect it to come by this year too.
