2016 may have been disappointing in some respects but for fans of old school video games that own tablets, 2016 has been a bumper year. The ports of Bully, Day of the Tentacle and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (just to name a few) have now been joined by RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic
What is RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic? Another freemium game with loads of in-app-purchases like RollerCoaster Tycoon 4? RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a port of RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 and best of all, the only in-app-purchases are for the original expansion packs. Unlike what they did with RollerCoaster Tycoon 4, Atari have done right by the fans of RCT1 and RCT2 by giving them a direct port of the game. The same thing they did with RCT3.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a new RCT experience, combining the best features from two of the most successful and beloved RCT games in the series’ history – RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Create and run amazing parks complete with the most outrageous rides imaginable. RCT Classic includes a mixture of authentic playability, depth of gameplay and unique graphical style of Chris Sawyer’s original best-selling RollerCoaster Tycoon PC Games, now enhanced for handheld devices. Packed with content, players can enjoy designing and building roller coasters and rides, landscaping parks and managing the staff and finances to keep their guests happy and the money flowing in.
Fans of the genre will instantly be familiar with the concept. Like in all RollerCoaster Tycoon games, RCT Classic allows you to build customer roller coasters or to install pre-made ones directly into your theme park. You are also able to add in other rides, food, drink and merchandise stands and generally build the theme park of your imagination.
Like most management games, you will have to be mindful of your finances whilst constantly assessing guest happiness to ensure you have a steady stream of park visitors.
If you enjoyed playing the original years ago, you’d enjoy RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic. Like the ports of RCT 3 and Transport Tycoon, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic remains faithful to the original without spoiling the experience by adding in any new elements. It’s thankful that Atari did go down the same route they did with RCT4 with RCT Classic. Now all we need is a faithful port of Theme Hospital for IOS or Android.
