With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s December 16th release date only 2 months away, the 2nd and final trailer has arrived on the web to whet the appetite of eager fans.

Rogue One: A Star Wards Story trailer breakdown

In the brief two and a half minutes we had a bit more of a glimpse into Jyn Erso’s past, where the call sign ‘Rogue One’ came from and different battle scenes to the first trailer. This trailer also leaves the viewer with more questions than the first one did but does opens up what looks to be the emotional core of the film. One thing I liked about the new trailer over the first one- it didn’t make film look like an Ocean’s 11 style heist set in a Star Wars universe.

The legendary film villain Darth Vader makes an appearance in the trailer to the excitement of many movie goers and director Gareth Edward’s take on the Star Wars universe has produced some stunning visuals.

Brief Background

Set before the events of Star Wars: A new Hope, this film followed a motley crew of heroes as they attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star, the Empires new super weapon.

Characterized as “an experiment” by Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, the company have been careful to downplay expectations for the film. Another Star Wars film starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo is due to arrive in 2018. From what we have seen so far, Rogue One: A star Wars Story looks like it will be the visually impressive and intense war film that Gareth Edwards has promised.
