What are some of the really crazy, odd and bizarre things that dictators collected? They typically rule by fear, intimidation, and making themselves the centre of a cult of personality. They range from ineffective and arbitrary at best to genocidal at worst. But if you step behind their facade, the personal lives, beliefs, and happenings as far as dictators are concerned are often simply weird, or defy popular imagination. It is well documented that some of them tend to develop strange habits. As they typically have the money to indulge those habits, you often wind up with some collections of really weird stuff.

This can range from lavishly clothes, cars, homes, food, fake medals, military & professional titles, gold weapons among many other oddities. The tragedy is that as well as being genocidal (in some cases), the people on this list usually obtained their wealth through money stolen from their starving people. The people on this list are often thought of as tyrants – leaders who rule with iron fists, cruelty, unflinching authority, and a lack of opposition.

As part of an effort to educate the world about the insanity of the world’s past and present tyrants, here are 11 dictators who collected some pretty strange things as powered by Ranker.
