How do I get out of the friend-zone? Do you have that one friend you feel there is a spark with? Maybe, like many people, you may be worried about acting on that feeling for fear of rejection or worse…losing a good friend. Additionally, expressing your feelings for your friends comes with a big risk of making things awkward if your friend doesn’t feel the same for you. Luckily there is a new dating app that addresses this very common issue. MTJF (More than Just Friends) is a new dating app that has a double opt-in mechanism that allows you to know if your friend is interested in having a romantic relationship with you in an anonymous yet fun way.
How is MTJF different from other dating apps?
While other dating apps are based on dating strangers, MTJF is designed for dating your friends, people you already know. MTJF helps people to confess, unhide, express and take the first step.
Why would anyone use a dating app like MTJF?
3 simple reasons…
You can express your feelings without risking your friendship…
Expressing your feelings comes with a big risk of making things awkward if your friend
doesn’t feel the same for you. Not with MTJF. MTJF’s double opt-in mechanism ensures that
a person knows about the other person liking him/her, only when they both Like each other
No fake accounts!
While the other Dating apps are filled with millions of fake accounts, MTJF guarantees you
that you will never Match with a fake account. MTJF verifies each user using Mobile number
& OTP verification mechanism. So that you can always be sure that you are talking to the
person you intend to talk to.
Get Dates Without Getting Judged…
Are you afraid of other people finding your profile on a dating app? With MTJF, only the
people you match with can see your profile. So no-one knows about your profile except for
the ones you Match with.
But how does MTJF work?
MTJF helps you anonymously let your friends know you are interested in them. All it takes is 3 easy steps to convert your friendship into a relationship:
Step 1: Like your Friend
MTJF pulls the entire contact list from your phone, where you can secretly Like your friend.
If your friend likes you too, it’s a Match! MTJF uses phone number & OTP based verification
for account creation. So as long as you have the phone number of the friend you are
interested in dating with, you can send them a Like. You can Like your friends even if they
are not using the MTJF app yet. If they get on the MTJF app later and Like you, you will get a
Step 2: Send a Hint & Chat Anonymously with your Friends
Send a Hint to make it easier for your friends to guess who you are, while still keeping your
identity a secret. With the replies to Hint, you can chat anonymously with your friends.
Step 3: Ask without any Hesitation
Want to ask your friend out for a romantic dinner? or maybe a road trip? Just swipe on the
activity you are interested in doing with your Friend. If your Friend too is interested in the
same, you will get a Match! Your activity interest remains secret until you get a Match.

Why set up MTJF?
Sangram Kakad, the Founder of MTJF is a chartered accountant who worked for an investment bank. Sangram envisioned the MTJF app in 2011 and scribbled the UI of the app on the back page of his diary. Sangram desperately wanted to build the app, but couldn’t, due to lack of technical expertise. In 2017, a friend introduced him to the start-up EngineerBabu, which is a community of freelancers which help businesses to build their software and apps. One Saturday morning Sangram called Mayank Pratap, the founder of EngineerBabu, and they started working on building the app right after the call ended. Just by communicating over email and Skype calls, MTJF was built in 5 months, without the founder meeting the team in person even once.
