Christian Bale is a fantastic actor. For me, that is undeniable. His work in The Dark Knight Trilogy introduced me to him. The films in that trilogy made me see how much of a presence he has as an actor. Seeing him in other films such as 3:10 to Yuma, The Fighter, American Hustle and The Big Short continued to cement my belief that Christian Bale brings his all to every role he is given. He is alongside Jake Gyllenhaal as one of my favourite actors working in the film industry today.

Christian Bale In Star Wars

This made it all the more heart-breaking when he said that he was nearly cast in a Star Wars film. In a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s podcast Happy Sad Confused, Christian Bale confirmed that he was in talks to appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story. This is what he had to say on the matter:

Yes, [it was] very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

Solo A Star Wars Story

While I would have loved to seen Christian Bale in Solo, it is what he said at the end which got me excited. That last line makes me very confident that Christian Bale will be involved in a future Star Wars project. I would be overwhelmed with joy if this happens. Indeed, when I hear Christian Bale eulogise about the franchise, I get really excited about the prospect. As you can see below, he loves Star Wars:

Star Wars I’m a huge fan. Yeah Star Wars really interests me. I’ve still got the Millennium Falcon, I’ve got the AT-AT. My daughter, her first love was Darth Vader. She absolutely adored Darth Maul. [She] stood near him at Disneyland and he growled and he’s got those teeth and he stayed in character, really wonderful performance, and she was teeny and I thought, ‘This is gonna scare the crap out of her, this is such a bad idea.’ And then she stopped and she said, ‘Daddy, I’m in love’.”

Christian Bale In Rian Johnson’s New Star Wars Trilogy Is My Wish

It is always great to have Star Wars fans involved in the making of Star Wars projects. Whether it is Star Wars films, television shows, books, comic books and/or video games, fans should always be involved. From these comments, Christian Bale seems exactly like the type of person who would work well with Lucasfilm. My personal wish is that he is involved with the new Star Wars trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson. We shall have to wait and see what transpires regarding any future involvement Christian Bale has with Star Wars.
