Chris Evans recently made some comments which came across as though he will be stepping down from his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America once Avengers 4 is released in 2019. If this is to happen, then the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) would be losing a real asset. To me, Chris Evans as Captain America is one of the best things about that franchise.
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson
However, before Avengers 4, we have Avengers: Infinity War to be released in a matter of weeks and both Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow, gave details about the film to journalists who attended a set visit last year. One of the things they discussed about Avengers: Infinity War was in regards to the changes in the relationships between members of the Avengers.
Here is what Chris Evans had to say when it came to Captain America’s relationship with Tony Stark/Iron Man:
“I don’t think either one of us are ones to hold grudges. I think we operate very binary, utilitarian approach to most things we do, and I don’t think we let emotion dictate our reality. It’s been a couple years, so I think we both, to some degree, not moved on, but maybe buried some things.”
Scarlett Johansson has this to say on what it would be like for her character to be reunited with love interest Bruce Banner/Hulk:
“She’s not a particularly sentimental person, and I think she understands that it’s been a period of time and they both have been through … they’ve both had their own experiences separate of one another, and will always have a shared experience with one another. But again, a lot of time has passed and I think they both kind of needed to see this sort of heroic decision the last time they saw one another, that they were going to sacrifice their own personal desire for the greater good. And that’s happened, and move on.”
