Yesterday, President Trump increased his attack against renewable energy by wildly claiming that power generating windmills decrease property value and the noise that they create causes cancer.
Says that these…
Cause cancer… What?!?!
Whilst delivering a rambling speak at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual spring dinner, President Trump said, “Hillary wanted to put up wind. Wind. If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer.” He then went on to mimic the sound a turbine makes whilst the crowd laughed and applauded. Seriously, watch it for yourself…
Just in case you were unsure, the noise that windmills make do not cause cancer.
President Trump followed up the ridiculous claim with yes another, that windmills are “graveyard for birds.” He said, “If you love birds, you never want to walk under a windmill, because it’s a sad, sad sight,”
To claim that the noise windmills emit cause cancer is completely baseless.
This is not the first time president Trump has attached wind power. In Michigan last month, the president claimed that wind power is not a reasonable solution for electricity because the wind doesn’t always blow. he said, “If it doesn’t blow, you can forget about television for that night. ‘Darling, I want to watch television.’ ‘I’m sorry! The wind isn’t blowing.’ I know a lot about wind,”
Anti-wind power groups have incorrectly claimed that the low-frequency noise, infrasound, that turbines make can cause a myriad of health problems. The unevidenced claim includes nausea, sleep loss, anxiety and other problems. Because people take these lunatics seriously, research done (what a waste of time and money) has shown no harm of any kind comes from low frequencies. Not even cancer.
In the US, renewable and wind energy is on the rise. According to the American Wind Energy Association, wind energy supported more than 100,000 jobs in 2017 and provided 6.3% of the country’s energy.
I’m now off to re-evaluate my life as I never expected to have to ever write the phrase ‘the noise that windmills make does not cause cancer.’
Common sense people!
