A few months back, you may remember Deankelly. If your memory is not serving you right, well here’s a brief reminder: DeanKelly is the guy who (I imagine) wooed every female population who reads Soapbox with his loved up EP entitled The MissTape.
Since his last appearance on this site, the Nigerian singer/songwriter has dropped some explosive visuals for his single, Ogogoro, which is currently sweeping the airwaves of radio stations across the globe.
The newcomer injects his unique style, charm and vibrant energy into with the Ninja-directed production and such vibrant energy are enhanced by the presence of his love interest. Since its release, the three-minute video has generated over 50K views on VEVO.
Ogogoro peaked at No. 6 on North Manchester FM’s International Music Chart in the UK and received heavy airplay in three continents on stations including: CCGTop40 radio (New York), ABN radio (London), Unique Radio (London) and WinFM (Nigeria).
The fiery track continues to gain momentum as it is currently at number ten on Ujima Radio’s chart show in the UK, after spending three weeks at the number one spot. The track also made history on the chart show as the first Afrobeat release to scoop the top spot. Ogogoro is also a hit with independent music blogs and magazines, gaining support from the likes of The Hype Machine, 1stDayFresh, Vents Magazine and Niji Magazine.
Named after a Nigerian alcoholic drink, Ogogoro is the latest single from his six-track EP, The MissTape, which gave DeanKelly his first commercial success through single, Sexy Didi. Possessing the same vivacity as Ogogoro, the previous offering has earned DeanKelly a spot on Seyi Law’s Fast and Funny show – one of the top-rating shows in Nigeria – and the prestigious Made In Nigeria festival.
