So what is Conan Exiles?…
Conan Exiles is a Survival video game set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, with the custom playable character being rescued by Conan as your character is convicted of various crimes, sentenced to death, and are crucified under the scorching desert sun, however, and as an exile must now navigate a harsh desert landscape, appropriately titled The Exiled Lands.
So from reading that I was interested in this game a while ago but the price tag when it came out wasn’t speaking to me at £50, I was worried it would be another “Rust” kind of game, and I was correct you start with nothing and work your way up.
But let’s track back a little and talk about your character.
Customization of your character is quite in-depth you choose from everything on the character’s body and even choosing to go naked at the start of the game (If you do you can’t play online with that character) but I feel that Funcom has worked hard on making this game great and includes so much detail. in the four hours I’ve played I’ve only just built a house for shelter.
The gameplay to this game is not bad the camera movement is a little trigger happy and moves a lot faster than it should you most probably can change this in the settings and the swimming engine on this game isn’t that great I ran into the water and was running on water like a god but overall it’s pretty good you have to keep an eye on your health and food and drink to keep your character in tip-top shape but also not to die.
The enemies AI is not bad sometimes it knows when your going to attack and will dodge you but also is quite strong and take a lot of hits to kill or take down my only flaw on this is that in the hours I’ve played I’ve not seen many enemies kill and more creatures than anything but the map is massive and I’ve only scouted a small part of it.
Levelling up on this game differs to what difficulty you are playing for me I’m on the easiest setting and I still find it hard to play but I’ve noticed if you kill a few creatures or craft some items you level up I’m currently level 16 on this game and the trophy system goes to level 60 so not sure if that’s the level cap but I will soon hit if so the way I’m playing this game.
The crafting on this game is very in depth you have to build a foundation to build a house with walls and roofs but the amount of raw material needed as well is crazy once again this game has been throughout a lot by the makers and thumbs up to them not many games in this genre can get it right something would be wrong or not work so far everything for me is good.
Online and Offline/Co-Op Play
This game gets better as well as if you don’t feel like playing online or don’t feel like getting killed and looted by other players you can play offline by yourself or with a friend offline as well which makes this in my eyes better than the other games out there E.G. (Rust, 7 Days to Die)
Out of Five?
This game was fun to play and has a lot to do on the game with crafting and surviving I just wish there were more enemies to fight on this game to keep you on your toes as your playing but a fun game and I would recommend this to anyone especially while it’s free this month on PlayStation!
Well, thanks for reading this review hope it will come in handy when choosing to play this game or not, also let me know in the comments below if you’ve got it and what you think.
