Have you ever been to a bar and watched the bartender(s) make their drinks with a bit of flair? You know what I mean… flair bartending… it is when throwing the bottles around in an acrobatic style whilst simultaneously making extraordinary looking drinks (I apologise if that overview was too simplistic). In-case you still don’t know what I know, there is a video below. Getting back on point, I recently went to a cocktail making class at a bar called The Otherist in central London. They didn’t teach us flair bartending but what is cocktail flair worth if you can’t actually make a cocktail in the first place?
Cocktail making class at The Otherist
So, what did we learn to make. During this taster session, our master bartender demonstrated and walked our group through making a Peach Bellini and a Raspirovska. Check out what we made below along with the recipe!
25ml peach purée, 3 dashes peach bitters, Prosecco, 10ml peach liquor.
This is a really simple one. Put all the ingredients into a tall glass. Fill with ice, stir and serve.
20 ml Limoncello
30 ml vodka
20 ml black pepper syrup
25 ml lemon juice
Put all the ingredients in a tall glass. Fill the cocktail mixer with ice and pour in the mixed ingredients. Shake well and pour.
Add ice cubes, crushed ice, pepper and lemon zest.
So who is The Otherist? In their own words… Refuel, recharge and relax, The Otherist is your escape from the fast pace and pressure of City life. From long lunches to crafted cocktails, it’s the little details that make the difference and what make The Otherist so special.
