I’ve never been much of a board game person. My parents once tried to start a board game night on the weekends when I was a kid, but they really struggled to get any of my siblings to sit down for long enough to play.
I was recently searching for games to play on my phone when I get bored throughout the day at work, and I discovered this website with a list of the best board game apps. I thought it might be fun to try my hand at board games again but in a much more accessible form – I much prefer apps to actual board games. find Best 10 Classic Board Games
I tried a few of the apps out and I’ve been having a really good time with them so far. I wanted to recommend the ones I like best below so hopefully, you can have a great time with them too. (Especially if you never liked them much as kids – like me!)
Board Kings – Rating: 4.6, Downloads: 10M
Multiplayer mode on Board Kings lets you have fun with other game players (like family members) all at once. You can play with the boards that friends and family have created, which is always a hilarious time. Whether or not your family and friends enjoy playing board games, this game is the perfect mix of modern and classic that will make everyone fall in love.
Unfortunately, you do only get so many free dice rolls every hour. After you’ve used them all, you have to wait a certain amount of time before you’re allowed to roll again. A bit of a bummer if you’re on a hot streak, but then again, if you’re willing to pay for it, it’s not a problem.
Pros: Play with others on multiplayer mode, play on other people’s game boards
Cons: Only get so many free dice rolls every turn
Overall: As long as you’re patient, you’ll love how many funny hijinks you can get up to with your friends on this game
Monopoly Bingo! – Rating: 4.2, Downloads: 10M
Everyone’s heard of Monopoly. As a child, I absolutely hated it! But Monopoly’s popularity is so strong that it has spawned an entire franchise of merchandise. This game is really fun because it’s a mix of two really popular games: Monopoly and Bingo. Sort of like a clash of the giants. I’ve even shown this game to my four-year-old niece who thinks it’s really fun too.
I will warn you that the game freezes from time to time. I’m still not sure if it’s my phone that’s the problem or if the app occasionally struggles to connect with its server. Whatever the case, know that it does happen (not frequently, but still annoying when it does happen).
Pros: Good for kids and adults, a fun clash of games
Cons: The game may freeze once in a while
Overall: As long as you don’t mind re-loading the game if it does happen to freeze, you and the entire family will have a blast playing a new formulation of these classic games
Rento – Rating: 4.3, Downloads: 10M
I’d never heard of Ludo before I found this game, but apparently, it’s what Rento is based on. You have the option to play this retro dice and card game with up to four friends or by yourself (if that’s what you prefer). I’ve started getting a few of my coworkers into it too, and it’s been a lot of fun playing together.
Because you’re playing against bots, the robots tend to have the upper hand. This, of course, is only the case if you happen to be playing in solo mode. If you’re playing live against others in multiplayer mode, you don’t have to worry about this. That being said, you may not always have time to play with others, so it’s a bit of a bummer when the robot wins the majority of the time.
Pros: A fun twist on a classic card game, great for playing with friends or coworkers
Cons: Robots tend to win in solo mode
Overall: Despite solo mode being a tad one-sided, having fun playing a virtual card game with friends is always a good time
These games help keep me from being bored at work in my downtime, and I’m so grateful for that! I absolutely hate to be bored and I never thought I would have so much fun with board games of all things. But these aren’t like the traditional board games that take 500 years to set up, which is a real perk! If you’ve been looking for something super fun to do, I recommend this 100 %!
